One girl - one goal: to live a healthier life.

This includes eating more locally produced food; cooking culinary delights at home; and living life to it's fullest.

Healthy living does not have to be boring and tasteless...

"Cooking is like love - it should be entered into with abandon, or not at all."

Confession

Today is day 21, and I have a confession. I cheated this weekend. Hardcore. I just couldn't resist a bowl of amazing pasta at Olive and June, along with some super amazingly yummy bread Saturday night. I don't regret it AT ALL. It was amazing. And, interestingly, I didn't have any ill-effects...I don't think. Although, in all honesty, my stomach was a teensy upset yesterday.  I actually assume it was the bottle of wine I decided to drink (ok, not a full bottle...), it felt similar to other nights where I had a bit too much to drink. But I have also decided to go back to gluten-free for the next 10 days (one extra day to make up for the cheat day), and really monitor my experience when I go back to having gluten. And it is good timing, I will be back on gluten just in time for Valentine's day!!

Tonight I made a spicy shrimp dish, based loosely on this recipe for Shrimp Fra Diavolo. I tossed the shrimp and tomato sauce with some gluten-free pasta. It was a pretty quick and easy dinner to pull together, which was great because I also put together a crock pot of jambalaya for tomorrow night!

Now that I did a killer workout at Crossfit (21 pull ups, 14 kettle bell swings, 7 box jumps - all times three), prepared two dinners, cleaned the kitchen, folded the last of the laundry, and straightened up the house - I think it is time for a glass of wine, and some Veronica Mars!
