One girl - one goal: to live a healthier life.

This includes eating more locally produced food; cooking culinary delights at home; and living life to it's fullest.

Healthy living does not have to be boring and tasteless...

One More Cup of Coffee

This is not my typical post, but as I was sipping on my coffee this morning I realized I have yet to rave about Anderson's Coffee. This amazing coffee shop opened it's doors in 1972 (according to the website) and has been selling fresh roasted beans and coffee for the past 39 years. Once you start buying your coffee beans at Anderson's Coffee you will never go anywhere else.

This isn't a "coffee shop" in the emo-hippie-hipster manner of coffee shop (don't mistake -- I love those kind of coffee shops - this just isn't one of them). You don't sit, read a book and sip a cup (although I guess you could); but you do go in and deeply inhale the amazing scent of fresh roasted coffee beans that -- for a coffee lover -- will make your mouth water for a fresh cup. They are constantly introducing new blends and creative roasts, although the house roast is an old stand-by. What makes Anderson's so special, aside from the fact that you can tell they truly love coffee, is that they hand roast their beans fresh. The beans have not been roasted (or burned) elsewhere, then bagged, vacuum sealed and shipped across the country. The beans were roasted that day - most likely by Jamie Anderson himself. The difference is obvious.

I visit Anderson's almost weekly - buying a small half-pound of freshly roasted beans (since I am the only one in the house to drink coffee). If you are in Austin, and love coffee - you should definitely stop by for the taste and scent of freshly roasted coffee. (1601 W. 38th Street, #2 Jefferson Square).

While you are dreaming about a cup, here is a song to tide you over. Although I couldn't find the original Bob Dylan version to share, this White Stripes cover is definitely worthwhile. One More Cup of Coffee before you go...
